What is Model United Nations?
Model United Nations (MUNs) simulates real United Nations experiences. Delegates research their countries' stances on global issues, and convene at conferences to debate with others, aiming to find solutions through negotiations and consensus.
How do I get involved?
There are multiple ways you can get involved with MQUNSOC:
- Join MQUNSOC: Joining the society allows you to be involved in our events, attending as a delegate in Model United Nations conferences on Macquarie University campus, domestically around Australia and internationally.
- Attend events with other UN societies: Follow our socials links or join our mailing list.
- Attend a MUN conference: Sing-up forms are posted on our social links or sent out through the mailing list.
- Join MQUNSOC as a member of the Executive Team: Elections are held annually for every position.
Can I attend a conference if I have never previously MUN'ed?
Simple answer: YES!
Many of our more experienced members recall attending a conference at the national or international level as a first-time delegate. As part of the delegation heading to any conference, you will receive ample training and support from your fellow team members and executive members.

Do I have to know everything about the United Nations?
Simple answer: NO!
Many of our members come from different backgrounds, studying a range of degrees. (No, we are not all experts on the United Nations). However, everyone in the society has an interest in worldly events, whether it be international politics or domestic events.
